I get into this on the post, but AFAIK community-built solutions such as Heroic and Lutris aren't exactly the same, with a lot of Galaxy's selling points being the cloud features such as save data sync and a friends list system for online play.

Different people may or may not find uses for these features, but it's still worth discussing IMO.

I liked the build, although my Pebble 2 had rubber reversion issues on the side buttons that rendered them unusable. I'm really sad about that because I would've totally kept it around if not for that

A look back at the Pebble watch

I didn't get into it in the article, but I've been thinking this is exactly what Fediverse platforms need. Instead of, say, Lemmy instances going to full lockdown every time there's a massive exodus, having an "invite link" system would be massively helpful for people easily getting their friends on the platform while also taking a load off mods. In conjunction with Fedi's dispersion across multiple instances, this'll help even further w/ load-balancing.

I think Discord is an example of this sort of system working in practice. Usually server mods are dealing w/ a volume low enough that banning bots are easy and it's easy to find out who invited who or cut off access to certain links.

The article discusses the trend of "gender-coding" in politics and how politicians and corporations (namely Facebook in this case) often use it to distract from the problems they cause for society.
