before the Internet killed my attention span, I used to read a lot of science fiction and fantasy novels by a variety of authors. Since then, I've watched a lot of anime and read a lot of amateur writing. I don't have specific sources to cite, but the trope is common enough and recurring enough that I stand by my claim of "generally accepted".

close enough
use cabinet grade instead of construction grade for your plywood. The good shit will actually be what it says it is.
it's a generally accepted assumption in many post-Tolkien fantasy works.
yes, you are very clever for being able to identify a piece of fiction on the internet. Your powers of logic and reason are astounding.
if this happens to me I just won't watch youtube anymore. It's mostly garbage content anyway.
pinky swear promise the pardon, get the evidence, then don't actually pardon.
he can bitch and moan about getting played from prison.
I wish I knew that 20 years ago.
sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. Different updates will break different things for different machines. Some people are blessed by Bill Gates himself, and never have to re-fix their shit. Others are cursed and have to fix random shit unrelated to the update every fucking update.
I can't prove it, but I think microsoft does this on purpose so that some people will enthusiastically share their positive experiences with windows while everyone else gets shat on.
My opinion on gun control has changed over the years.
I used to be very anti gun. didn't really see the point of regular people having them.
Today though, me giving up my guns would be like Ukraine giving up their nukes but smaller.
ring doorbells can connect to the Internet through each other. Imagine a fridge made by amazon that uses the same network. Now imagine amazon giving discounts to apartments making it more attractive to cheapskate landlords. I can imagine insurance companies paying amazon surprisingly small sums to make this happen.
went to my local orange store today, measured the plywood while I was there. The birch is a full 3/4, but the sandeply is 23/32 despite being labeled as 3/4.
I am annoyed.
