Fountain pens - I started with a 30 euro Parker but it seems like just one is never enough.
Asking about the worst Lemmy communities is an easy way to share negative sentiment which has no real value and causes a lot of work for the mods. We're a small team and looking at the comments that had already been posted, it wasn't something that was worth our time to keep up with. Hence rule #2.
Knitting - if you find the right audience, you can chat for hours, but it can also lead to blank looks or lots of assumption.
Given that we've already had two threads on this topic day, removing under rule #4.
This isn't an open ended question and as such doesn't belong on this community. You're welcome to continue the discussion over at !fediverse@lemmy.ml
I'll lock the thread but not remove it so that you can see what has been said so far.
Thanks for the update, but this breaks rule #1 - it's not a question and the community is Ask Lemmy. We can leave this up for a few hours so that there's a central place to chat.
OP, I'm thinking this sounds an awful lot like a support question, because it's about using Lemmy and Lemmy functionality. You posted so you probably already have an opinion - why does this question belong in this community?
I'm asking because it seems borderline and I don't want to remove it purely due to interpretation.
This isn't a question, it's a rant. Removing.
You can troubleshoot this through the process of elimination.
- Don't make any calls from home for a day or two. That'll tell you if it's something localized to your home/location or if it's specific to your phone/contract.
- Disable all extra technology like Bluetooth. That'll tell you if it's a Bluetooth or other connection. Ideally, turn off all extra connections beyond cellular. You could also try voice/video calls vs. phone data - I doubt this would matter, but it's always the last thing that you check.
- Break your house into a few different zones. If they comment on a conversation held it in one part of the home but not another, that'll give you an idea if it's location specific.
Probably not the most helpful tip, but how about taking this opportunity to learn another language?
The concept of the Fediverse is horizontal rather than vertical growth - i.e. More smaller instances rather than increasing the capacity of the larger ones. We're also seeing that Lemmy currently only scales to a certain degree. Right now, most instances are either covered by their admin because they're so small that the cost is manageable or instances are setting up donations.
It's conceivable that a business would set up an instance and charge for it - but I think it unlikely. A year town the road, though, who knows?
Locking this thread under rule #2 - we don't have the bandwidth to mod a political discussion. If you want to have this discussion, please use one of the communities speficially for that purpose.
