what's the downside for russia though? they can shut off the gas whenever they want, why not make money out of europe? all they have to do is sell the gas for a bit less than LNG.

the only danger is if europe uses russian gas to reindustrialize and become a threat to russia, but can you actually imagine european states doing that instead of endless austerity?
