I had every Nexus except for the 5, and every Pixel except for the 5. I've had really good luck with them all. Only problem I had was after about a year the wireless charging stopped working on my Pixel 4 XL. I've handed down almost every single phone to either my parents or my kids after at least a year of use and they continue to last a few more years. I can't recall one ever dying. I swear by them.

I've been an early adopter subscribe for months and I'm loving it. The tools available make searching easier and so much more useful.

No hashtags, no full text search. Just an algorithmic feed and a following feed, and you can only search users.

CalcKey just rebranded to Firefish. It has a very pretty UI but UX is currently bad as there is no way to globally disable boosts so you will see the same posts in your timeline over and over and over again. Following hashtags is limited to the Antennas feature so you won't see those posts in your timeline. Until they fix these things it's unusable for me personally.

Have you tried Akkoma or Pleroma? I run an Akkoma instance at https://shrediverse.net if you want to try it out. You can use the web app or an app like Fedilab on Android.

Have you tried other ways of viewing Mastodon? Different web apps or mobile apps? Like https://elk.zone , https://phanpy.social , https://semaphore.social.

I'm not sure web apps have access to the Material You APIs.

twit.tv is good for more mainstream tech talk. Late Night Linux, Linux Unplugged, Self Hosted.

This issue is going to divide the fediverse. You've got instances defederating from Threads, and instances defederating from instances that won't defederate from Threads. I feel like there are going to be two clearly divided and disconnected sides to the fediverse now.
