Honestly: let Canadians experience what a few years of PP does, if they're willing to vote for that regressive piece of shit then let's lie in the bed we make. Carney just seems to be getting us a few years of moderate conservative before people flip to blue anyway

When it's the NDP formally propping them up we get progress but when NDP voters vote Liberal to prop them up they steamroll us. I'm glad I didn't change my vote. I hope we all learn the lesson this is teaching us about supporting Liberals at the polls

that's China for ya (I don't think critically about the information that's presented to me)

[–] leftytighty@slrpnk.net -1 points 9 months ago

ah yes journalists and scientists but it seems you forgot the most important axiom of all: CHINA. BAD

[–] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 2 points 9 months ago

they still do this, by insisting on looking at total instead of per capita data

I'm physically unable to control myself and don't see anything wrong with that.

Sounds like you should work on that before you end up hurting someone

It's not just semantics the idea that the US is leading implies passive influence rather than active influence.

They're leading not through inspiration and innovation but as they would with a leash.

[–] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 5 points 9 months ago

yes but the kernel of truth is that is a bit shocking that they were self aware enough to admit not having the information, that's better than most conservatives

The US isn't a leader in anything they are imperialist and they meddle. It's not leadership it's influence. They've consolidated political, economic, and military power and they use all of those to varying degrees to meddle in everyone's affairs

Very shocking to me that a conservative would barge in with a strong conservative opinion but not know what's going on and having barely tried to find out.

Yeah and to be fair it's not like Canada is much better, but in cases like this one I don't find it ridiculous that the appropriate use of force is investigated.

I'm sure this person won't ultimately end up in jail (the same people in arms over this would also be the first to point out how "lenient" our criminal justice system is...), and if the facts of the matter do show unnecessary force or cruelty (like stabbing an unconscious person) then I feel that it would be justified.

Anyway, I didn't mean to paint you with a broad brush I know the average American I interact with is more like me than not, but I'm grateful for the slightly higher valuing of human life here

[–] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 7 points 9 months ago (3 children)

fair, many of the people might, but the prevailing culture is one that doesn't really value human life, especially criminals (even suspected ones).
