The call for designs was open for weeks. This is what came in.
I'm plesantly surprised at the number of voters. I went with this format, instead of what you suggest or a third party voting site, thinking there would only be a handful of replies!

Well, I've closed the windows, turned off the lights and locked the door over at r/askelectronics (sub is now private). Let's see how this unfolds...
