I struggle with downvotes for my tastes vs the communal good.

If I'm scrolling through gonewild and I see a post from a gender I'm not into, do I downvote because I don't like it?

No, because that punishes someone else (who's putting themselves out there and contributing) for my tastes, and it doesn't actually improve the algorithm of what gets served to me.

If it's spam, or a photo of someone's thumb wearing a tutu, or off topic, or violating a rule then I'll downvote (this is pretty rare though).

I also usually block posters who aren't to my tastes, but that feels too coarse grained because maybe they post in the asklemmy or something with great content there.

I think the community needs to accept that people don’t only post for their benefit, and that’s fine. It’s dangerous to post nudes publicly, and it takes time and effort and creativity to consistently do so with new content.

Most of the posters of OC are trying to build a following and convert a few of their viewers to subs to make the effort worthwhile. I think the number of high quality OC posters without some form of income generation is very small.

And frankly Annabelle was one of the better posters, she didn’t spam the shit out of things, did consistently post content and communicated, did interact with the comments, didn’t push their OF in annoying ways. I would say she’s the archetype of success here (along with a few other high quality posters).

It’s a major bummer to see her leave, and I think we’re going to see other great users leave too, sadly.

There are some awesome creators on here who have been great for the community, they regularly engage with users, post great original content, and I think it's fair that they want to sell their services and support themselves. I'm not opposed at all to links in their bios.

The last week or so has had a deluge of low quality posters and frankly it does not spark joy to browse my feed. I don't even trust that these posters are who they say they are -- the titles and bios are basically all the exact same format with the same emojis in the same places, and sentence the structure that's filled in with a basic form/script, and their post titles feel optimized to shit and lifted from other platforms.

I think additional verification for promoted content is required.

Wasn't this a plotline in Bojack Horseman?

Just want to give a shout-out to these users and all the others who post OC

It's appreciated and you're all awesome!

This is nice, lifetime price is a little steep for me though, I'd buy it for half price
