I joined a short while ago, and I gotta say while our time together was very short Id had some good laughs and we shared some great insights.
So I want to say thanks to each EH user that ever posted a meme or a discussion post, or simply commented. Thanks for making pooping time ten times more enjoyable.

Problem is that Lemmy UI works really nice. I never liked the oldschool forum design. Old Reddit UI did some dumb shit but threaded comments are a must have these days.
my experience so far;
basedcount seems like a viable option but I asked them to defederate the loli federations etc and its not done (yet). Not sure if they didnt find time or if its bugged but important for me that the admin stays on top of their server for when the ddos kiddies come by.
If we wont manage to find a server im willing to host a small, completely defederated server without image uploads. Should be doable to keep costs under a couple dollars a month. I know donkey has hosting knowledge.
We can use image uploaders like Ye Olden Reddit and freeload on the app developers making apps for lemmy.
Everyone also knows you cant just remove the sign of the pizzahut and call it an office. It will be a pizzahut without a sign.
Im waiting for basedcount lemmy admin to block the same federations in the EH blocklist and then Ill move over. I like Kapow and more power to his decisions but he isnt my wife so Im not following him around.
Actually kinda glad he killed the federation now and gave a heads up instead of killing it a year down the road.
Any chance you can defederate from the instances hosting iffy material? I would like to host an account there (I like the rules) but some stuff is just plain illegal to have or see in my country and I dont want it on my pc tbh.

I actually dont see any critical flaws with Lemmy.
By defederating from the illegal servers and with some team effort its easy to cut down on spam.
While I agree with Kapow on the sentiment that taking the server down highlights the problem with a centralized server it kinda sucks that once the federation got traction it gets shut down lol.
Cant undelete the time spend growing the server and taking the time to upload memes, articles etc.
Edit: And as european citizen im indirectly funding the Lemmy devs with my tax dollars so I like to use what im paying for ๐
