There are a lot of shit people in this world. Try to minimize your interactions with them. Don't waste your energy on them.

There are many other great alternatives.

Wtf. are you talking about? Just the size alone reduces the competition to almost zero.

In the video you see an x-rax of a hamster stuffing its cheeks. Pretty neat!

Last time I checked out various newsgroups on different topics they were all pretty dead. What topics/which groups are you looking at?

What are the expected long-term effects, if any? Given the adult brain's capability of remyelination, and the fact that this is a young adult, is full recovery possible?

Keepass has been around for ages. It has 2FA via for example using an external file as the certificate in addition to a password. The database can be stored in Dropbox, google drive, or self hosted. I use synching for example.

There exists such a thing as gene-environment Interaction. The older twins get, generally the more different they are becoming.

This article is behind a paywall, but provides some more information.

Edit, here is a better link.

I fucked up :| (feddit.nl)

I had a bunch of personal scripts to manage my music database. Maybe 10-sh scripts, max a few hundred lines long, nothing too big. A little while ago, I wrapped them into a big emacs org file for literate programming, and to tangle them, so I could easily edit them in one place. Backed them up to at least three servers, both locally and in another building. I also have Cronopete running, (a Linux implementation of MacOS Time Machine), so everything is safe, right? Right?!. I didn't need the scripts for 3 months or so, but today I wanted to use them but couldn't find them anywhere. Not on any backup server, not on the Cronopete drive. The only thing I can think of is that I must have saved that org file on the backup server and then backed up over it (and it never got pulled by Cronopete because it does of course not look at the backup server). I will have to start rewriting those scripts from scratch. FML.

Or you could contribute (more) yourself to build them up.

For me that is not necessarily the case. Over the last week or so, I have been using sites like Lemmy Explorer and Lemmy Community-Browser to find communities that have my interest. I have also been browsing 'all' using the 'new' sort option and have been finding many new interesting communities that way.

I have been going over the same thing in the last two days.

What worked for me was the following:

  1. Use a computer (not a phone). That was at least easier in my experience.

  2. Find your community of interest via: https://browse.feddit.de/

  3. Make note of the instance (the server, e.g., lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, beehaw.org, etc.) as well as the community name ('sub reddits'). For example, let's use 'technology' at 'beehive.org'

  4. Go to your Lemmy server and log in. Note that your server/instance does NOT have to be the beehaw.org server, even though we want to add a community from this server. Now go to the search bar and paste the following:

!technology@beehaw.org

Note that the exclamation mark is part of the search query, as it indicates the community.

The annoying part is that it takes some time before the search result may show up (but definitely less than a minute in my experience).

Once the search result shows up, you can follow the link, which will open the community page where you will have a 'subscribe' button on the top right of the page.

That's not bad. I don't use Instagram, but it would be nice to follow people that are on other services through their Instagram account.
