Me too, comrade.

This is something I also struggle with. So much of the lefty philosophy is around acknowledging and respecting everyone as intrinsically human with a life worth preserving. Often I have a hard time hating the average Trump supporter or fascist shill because I know there's a million factors out of their control that got them there.

I have to remind myself constantly that my life is worth more than someone's who's chosen to harm another.

Guns aren't for everyone and I understand that. I don't think I could ever become a partisan in a revolution but I don't intend to be a statistic. If you do choose to have a weapon for self defense please at least train with it. Even pepper spray you can get refillable water squirting versions.

If you do want to try guns one day, I'd suggest a Pistol Caliber Carbine like the Ruger PCC. It shoots pistol rounds out of a carbine/rifle so it's much easier to control. The rifle in this picture is a KP-9.

Point taken. I agree with you. I've always agreed with those facts.

But there's an armed an increasingly well trained and organized movement of would be brown shirts. They've repeatedly shown their willingness to escalate violence at protests and threaten violence towards LGBT events. They've demonstrated a willingness to act on the federal government with violence. And huge swathsof that population are police.

They have guns. I'm in a queer relationship. I'm a target. I have guns.

$1000-$1100 is still a lot to ask of me specifically, but that is closer to market IMHO

It's insane. I really want one for that reason, but ThinkPad with a ugreen 145 Watt battery bank gives me 16 hours of use. That's all waking hours.

It's hard to justify spending 3x as much on a single laptop just for that kind of battery life.

I have done a full 8 hours of work on my Dell Latitude 5440 before on battery. I put it in bat saver and it lasted me the whole work day.

But I re cognize something: why would I need to do that?

I sat a desk or my couch all day both of which had a convenient outlet. There was no point in doing that all on bat. Yeah it's impressive to have a crazy long battery life and is why I wanta MacBook for coffee shop coding days, but again, there's almost guaranteed to be convenient outlets and I own a 145Watt battery bank if needed. Thus my $150 ThinkPad E495 has been reaching 16+ hours of use without needing a wall wart.

Maybe your use case is different but mine where I'm certainly going to be stationary enough to use a plug or a battery bank means I can't justify the apple tax. Plenty of people have done this calculation hence why Apple still doesn't have an appreciable enterprise market share let alone a competitive one.

Just saying, if you had spent as much on a laptop as you did on a MacBook, you would get a full work days of battery.

It's the same failure point apple fans have about Android. Yeah there are cheap androids. They suck, but also they cost$100-$200 new. What's apples offering in that price range?

I haven't had a prime sub in 5 years. It's not been worth it in a while.

What good is the convenience of having everything on the same website if I have to determine if it's fake or not?

I don't really care unless it has the same price point as the 8gb one.
