Here's to you, AnandTech - thank you for the detailed smartphone reviews all these years.

Back when I was a high-school student in this 2017 - 2019 era, HMD released a lot of different devices, including a diverse smartphone portfolio covering every segment imaginable.

What caused them to drop this strategy in such a short time, and went forward with a strategy focusing on affordable smart-and-feature-phones? For example, the 9 PureView was their last flagship released in 2019, and its successor 9.3 PureView never materialized.

I suppose you can blame it on declining sales - from what I could find, HMD's sales indeed took a nosedive in 2020, but a more concrete answer would be much appreciated here.

Same, Garmin has made me swear off from owning any modern smartwatches. I mean having to charge every other day is just nuts lmao

Knowing Google I wouldn't be surprised at all if they do remove Play Books and fuck over all the customers, just for that 1% increase in profits lol.

Gen Z kid here and I actually like this lol, I hope this isn't a sign of me turning into a boomer early.

Unpopular opinion but I really like this gen's exterior design, peak Accord even. Thank heavens this isn't Reddit or I would immediately be stoned by the hivemind lol.

*Why American Teen Hate Android Phones

Also I'm very glad that Lemmy is a lot less US defaultism than Reddit is. It's pretty tiring having to constantlt hear about Democrats and Republicans, or bubbles, or Nissan cars bad, you get the point.

Price and durability. I don't know, I can maybe get one eventually if I really want to, but shelling out like ~$1500 USD for a unproven screen design is pretty yikes to me. Plus, since my LG V60 is still serving me so well I really see no good reason to replace it.

Gesture, it's a lot more elegant than navbars UI wise.

Simple Gallery, no nonsense gallery app that's pretty fast and has a built-in image editor.

Short term profit mate. It's all they care at this point in my opinion.

I thought I'd never say this, but America is looking really like a third-world country lately. Of course that's too much of a generalization, but shit like this, and school shootings, and etc etc...makes you really wondering if you get what I mean.

One might say that this website has some of the best union behind it, perharps on the entire planet.

This is (mostly) only in car subreddits, but actual car owners getting insulted and ridiculed for their new car choice by teenagers. I've seen this before on Reddit and this triggers me to no end.
