It's a PayPal alternative, but developed in tandem with most European banks. That way, it will at some point also be used as backend for your normal debit and credit card payments, instead of VISA / MasterCard. If I remember correctly.

If AirVPN supports OpenVPN (it probably does), there is a way to have an OpenVPN connection that is not actively used unless you specify it for the app which you want.

For instance with qBittorrent you can select to use the VPN network interface in the settings. This has the nice advantage that it also acts like a kill switch.

It is a little bit finicky to set up for the average user, but if you have some basic tech skills it should be easy with the right guide. If you're interested I canl try to find it.

Tricount is Dutch

Apparently the founders have 44% of voting rights. So not even the majority anymore...

Tbh I don't think it's possible to have a promising AI startup in Europe without American investors yeeting their money at it. We probably need to limit this legally.

Honestly I keep wondering how they manage to achieve as much as they do with the little funding they get. It's incredibly impressive.

Did that one actually fail for valid reasons, or just because Microsoft blackmailed the city by moving their headquarter location?

Nah, they're serious about it. Note that it's just one of the 16 German federal states. The other 15 sadly don't have the necessary courage or integrity to make the switch.

The most probable solution is actually on the way (wero)

Will take a few more years to get all the features and require some incentives for people to switch from PayPal though. We'll see.

As long as its free and open source its fine in my opinion

The problem is that they can't or won't tell the users which data from what parts of the program they sell to whom for what purpose. Instead, they just make you give up all the rights to all your data in a blanket statement. (I think they did adjust the TOS a little bit, but it's still far from good)

Thank you. I utterly despise the cowardice of the media to call out fascists for what they are. Definitely one of the big reasons we got to where we are now.
