Well there is really only one question...

Pineapple on Pizza?

[-] skiba@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Uhhhhhhh, absolutely! This is a massive reply and I am appreciative of that. I am sure that many other people reading are also sort of in the same mindset or (where the hell am I really?). I still am a tad confused as to why this account will not work on other instances, but I guess you do explain why here in this response.

Appreciate the time and effort :)

This is a hot take, but Street Lawyer, by John Grisham.

I left Reddit because I gave them so many years of dedication (and $ via Reddit premium), not even considering the fact I bought coins on multiple accounts.

  1. Reddit became way too focused on Karma. Karma is great in concept, but more than half of the users are only posting for internet points at this point. It takes away from the validity of posts imo. How many "I stopped drinking for 30 days!" posts did you see on there with like 70k upvotes and thousands of karma?

  2. The amount of not genuine posts is alarming. People have become addicted to the upvote/downvote system moreso than boomers on Facebook have become attached to their pages.

  3. The amount of hate speech, misinformation and blatant lies the site actively promotes is insane.

  4. They literally made everyone NFT wallets...???????

  5. NFT wallets?? Why the fuck was this ever approved? Oh yeah, more $, and something else for Spez to add to his IPO rubbish. Hey look at us we have some NFTs too type beat.

  6. The userbase is pretty shit and Spez has even admitted to not caring about the people who made his site what it is.

Why would anyone ever stay on a site where the literal CEO says he doesn't need nor care about you?

I had a similar experience with GW1, go figure.

Surprisingly, GW1 is still relatively popular. There are still massive events held by Guilds, there are server events held by ArenaNet, and the fact that most people who play end up getting sucked into a MegaGuild by proxy (that's just where everyone plays..) it left me with sort of a worse experience overall in some form. Don't get me wrong, the game is great, and the community is too but playing during the golden years versus playing now, there is a clear discrepancy between what was fresh and new at the time and what is overplayed. There are tons of bots. The large Guild communities focus on end game min-max, and you can't really do that without the pcons (consumables) that are extremely expensive. The largest Guild there and it's leader participate in mass-botting (even though they deny it, I know they do because I became an Officer for a bit when I played and met the real faces behind the wealth of players in game and they all bot) and there is incentive to mass recruit new players so the cycle can continue.

Other than that, Maple Story has been giving me a crazy nostalgia trip as of this last week and I don't think I will be stopping playing that anytime soon. I put WoW on the backburner for now as I grind out on MS.

Thanks for the response. I just have more questions now >.<

Am I able to login to any of these instances with the same account? I.e. this skiba account I am on?

If they are not the "same" then why are you able to view Lemmy.ml from the instance of Slrpnk.net?

Sorry for asking for an ELI5 but my curiosity lingers

So just to clarify, as I migrated from the other website I refuse to mention, I assume that site is not Federated, and Lemmy is? And Exploding***-Heads is another instance?

[-] skiba@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

I think I am missing something here, can someone explain a few terms for me by chance?

What the hell does Fediverse mean? What the hell does Federated mean? What the hell does Defederated mean?

I know this is a hot take, but hear me out.

I started playing MapleStory on the Reboot server two days ago and I am having so much fun it's crazy. MapleStory is a 2D-MMO that released many moons ago, and back when I was a young kid I was in awe of this game.

As I get older I can't help myself by returning to older titles for that pure nostalgia direct to the vein, and MapleStory has seemingly been feeding me that. First it was FF7, then it was Fire Emblem, then it was some Pokemon games. Then, it turned into Metal Gear Solid. I am having fun playing these titles and that is what gaming should be about, not the current FotM in my opinion.

I know that the grind is absolutely bonkers on the higher end as is most KoreanMMOs, but there is currently an "event" that essentially lets you level up 3x for every level you achieve. This fast-tracks your ability to level up and makes you feel as if the game is a fresh and new experience. I remember being a kid and only being able to level up to like...level 17 or something, and in one sitting yesterday I was able to hit 100+. The best part, is it is free.

If you played MS back as a kid and always get a nostalgia trip when you see or hear the name I highly recommend giving it a spin again. It took me a minute to get use to the controls and UI again but once I did it was fun clearing screens of mobs. There are a ridiculous amount of classes now and it has been a great experience for me so far.

In the United States, it is a little bit different.

There are "standards" that water quality has to live up to. Do these standards actually meet the criteria for safe drinkable tap water? Not always. This is evident in places like Flint, Michigan and other poorer urban areas.

Some of the tap water can be so bad that people wouldn't dare to drink it even after boiling.

In some areas, the tap water quality is wonderful.

Here is a relatively decent source about the topic as it pertains to the USA. https://wisevoter.com/state-rankings/best-tap-water-in-the-us/#:~:text=The%20ten%20states%20with%20the,%2C%20South%20Dakota%2C%20and%20Nevada.

The long story short here, is certain places like Hawaii have extremely clean tap. Other places, like Texas, are notorious for having numerous water quality violations.

It falls down to each individual State and City for maintaining the standards that were set. In my opinion, it it just an easy way for them to waive liability at the end of the day.
