Dev Update (lemmy.world)
submitted 8 months ago by steve228uk@lemmy.world to c/bean@lemmy.world

Hey Everyone,

First of all, I owe you an apology for the lack of updates and communication from me. I totally understand the frustration from everyone and the feeling that the rug’s been pulled out from under you.

I’m not going to many any excuses, I can only express my apologies and plans to rectify this moving forward.

Next week, I will be working to fix some of the issues highlighted in this community: chiefly the inbox issues and switching to using the Authorization header now that Lemmy has made the change.

After that, I want to work with you all again as I did during the beta testing phase to figure out what priorities should be.

I of course, don’t expect anyone to take my word any face value but I hope that actions speak louder than words and that you’ll bear with me while I pick development back up on Bean.

It’s pretty late here in the UK but I didn’t want to head to sleep while everyone was expressing their concerns.

Bean 1.0.7 Update (lemmy.world)
submitted 9 months ago by steve228uk@lemmy.world to c/bean@lemmy.world

Hey Everyone!

I’m submitting a small update (1.0.7) to the App Store today that changes the following:

  • Added new theme: Sky
  • Added an option to hide or show usernames on the feed.
  • Bookmarks no longer hide read posts.
  • Fixed format bar on comments covering text.

Apologies for the delay on getting an update out to you all, hopefully I’m fully recovered from being sick and ready to get some more stuff out to you all soon.

I’m still working on messaging which will hopefully be in 1.1 soon. After that, priority will be iPad with smaller patches for bug fixes in between.

Thank you so much for the support and welfare checks while I was gone. I really appreciate you all ❤️

Sorry for the radio silence! I’ve been working on Bean when I can and expected to have an update out by now.

Unfortunately our house has been hit with Covid this week so it’s been a bit up in the air.

I’ll have more soon!

Hey everyone!

Just a heads up that the sale on Bean Pro Lifetime will be ending tomorrow, 31st August 2023. The price will be rising to $49.99 so if you were thinking of picking it up at the 40% discount, now is your last chance (for a while)!

I also want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone that has supported me in the last couple of weeks. It’s been a extremely overwhelming to see people subscribing to Bean Pro, leaving reviews, or spreading the word about the app.

I made Bean for me and it’s so cool to see other people using it too!

Messaging should be coming next week, but I’ll be taking some time this weekend to knock off some of the smaller issues like automatic theme switching and layout issues in the composer on some devices.

— Steve ❤️

This was my favourite safe space that Royal Mail chose.

Submitted to App Review…

  • Added Translation menu items for posts and comments.
  • Fixed the Blur Images setting not saving correctly.
  • Fixed “Browser” option not working on post context menu.
  • Fixed issue with html entities in push notifications.
  • More efficiently calculate drop shadows.

I've not been able to replicate any kind of memory leak or crashing on my side but I did notice the way I was handling shadows may have caused issues. I'm hoping that the changes I've made today will improve performance.

I've also started work on messaging and that will be coming in the next couple of days as well as some refinement on the inbox and push notifications (it's glitchy and annoying me at the moment).

There is zero chance I’m flashing a bios from a third party company onto my Steam Deck in order to install a different screen.

Made this one for my mum’s birthday. Lemon sponge cake with lemon frosting and topped with fresh raspberries and lemon zest.

Turn off all notifications, ignore like counts, post less, and ultimately use it less.

Hi All,

I'm looking for testers for the iPad version of Bean as currently it's a bit of a mess…

I've started work on switching over to things like split views there but there's a lot of work to be done and I want the app to be a first class citizen on the platform.

This means supporting things like keyboard short cuts, Split View, multi-window, and more.

If you're interested in testing please leave a comment with the following information:

  • iPad Model
  • iOS Version
  • Whether you use a keyboard

I'll DM you a link to the limited TestFlight once it's been approved by Apple for testing.

Of course, if anyone has suggestions for what else could be improved on iPad, I'm all ears. I don't own one so I only know so much!

submitted 11 months ago by steve228uk@lemmy.world to c/bean@lemmy.world

Hi All, I’ll be resetting the TestFlight list tomorrow and will be putting a link out for a smaller test group moving forward soon.

If you’re still using the TestFlight version of Bean, please switch to the App Store version to continue using it.

Kbin should have prioritised their API rather than adding microblogging to a platform that didn’t need it.

My ex was so dead against us getting a dishwasher because he didn’t want to have to plumb it into a house we didn’t own and our landlord wasn’t interested in helping us out.

A month after he moved out, I bought one and it absolutely did change my life.

I also managed to flood my kitchen in the process 🙈

An adorable one

It feels like these games are just marketed to people who already know what Pikmin is. They’ve put 4 out at an absolutely dreadful time too… The average player is still chugging through TOTK!
