So apparently this is from the guy who did the "Too Many Cooks" special, which is kinda awesomely weird. It will be interesting to watch!

This week’s barrage of show tunes kind of makes sense, given that this is a series that, Mr Benn-style, has been trying on a different genre every week.

I think this is one of the reasons SNW is so good.

The pick ’n’ mix approach of Strange New Worlds is a welcome palate cleanser, even if it means any overarching story arcs seem rather secondary.

And that is totally fine and even welcome!

As someone else mentioned in another comment, it's bonkers that SNW can do a cartoon episode, a war episode and a musical episode back-to-back. I love now experimental SNW is!

You kind of got the feeling the 23rd century officers were all left wondering why 24th century Starfleet is so unprofessional

I don't think it's the difference between 23rd vs 24th century officers, but more a difference between upper deck senior officers and lower decks ensigns.

Or even just the way he was running to catch up with Mariner.

Did you not learn anything from Mariner? Work is gonna be there still ~~five~~ 45 minutes from now.

You know the way Boimler was crawling under the communications panel, with his right legs at a 90 degree angle. It was just so perfect embodiment.

Edit: I just realized that the episode was written by Kathryn Lyn who also wrote one of Lower Decks’ funniest episodes, “wej Duj”. She seems to become Star Trek’s go-to gal for comedy.

Makes perfect sense when you realize that T'Lyn (named after her) was another passive aggressive Vulcan that provides comic relief was introduced in "wej Duj".

I agree. SNW has a really strong cast, and great writers. The show truly can be episodic without referencing any previous canon and still be fantastic and even appreciated more by new watchers of Star Trek.

The love interest between them developed to quickly in my opinion. It felt a bit unnatural, especially for La'an who is usually much more in control of her responsibilities and composure.

She was in Star Trek Beyond though.

In one of the panels Anson Mount was saying that if you think the Lower Decks cross-over episode was the craziest thing they've done for season 2, we would be surprised what else to see, so yeah, I think we are in for a good treat.
