I do think that if a family member were to drop unconscious, I would drive regardless, but not having the potential legal trouble afterwards is a nice thing to have, in case the cops got involved or something.

thanks for the perspective. I think I will keep it. I just hate all the costs associated with driving, and I don't even drive, and have to pay this and that.

And yeah, I have been in situations where I needed to drive, like helping a buddy drive a uhaul, or when another buddy passed out, I drove him to the hospital just in case he dropped behind the wheel.

Renewal, it expires after a certain time, I think 5 years where I live, Ontario.

I let my folks know that I'm getting rid of my drivers licence, because I don't plan on driving for at least the next 5 years.

My parents then said things like, "you're moving backwards in life", or "what will you do if you need to transport someone in an emergency?", to which I responded, "Taxi, or ambulance".

Am I a fool? Should I retain my licence for emergencies? I'm broke ATM, but should start working again soon, and my licence is expiring in a few weeks (and my wallet fell in a river a week ago, so I don't have the card anyways, not even kidding), so I'd rather not pay the $90 to keep it, if I don't have to.

What about you? Do you still keep a license handy for situations, or no? Is living car and license free possible in Canada?

Makes sense.

The vast majority of voters are complacent, unwilling to consider that their entire perspective needs to be updated with the times.

I'm more surprised that the green party has more say in government than the NDP right now.

Unionists versus the confederates all over again, history definitely repeats itself

sometimes, I can relate to the local government. They make mistake, after mistake, and years later, they figure it all out.

I'm currently in the figuring it out stage, but man, I guess it's hard to think of them as just people, rather than this ideal organized group that's super efficient and well formed. It's all just people at the end of the day. Sure, I'm just joe shmoe, but have we ever proven that people of authority are immune to error?

oh damn, I've never seen one in person, but I don't really care about judgment by others, so if I could get some prescription lenses on those, that'd be ideal.

A manual focus version would be cool too. I don't like the idea of having yet another thing to charge.

Just imagine if the eloquent words of the founding fathers were the norm of the type of content you see on tik tok. If that were the case, I would have joined a long time ago.

I don't regret not deleting all my comments. For me, It's a mishmash of helpful/comedic/observational comments that I don't care that they have sold off for use as training data.

But, I just got shadowbanned, because of my VPN or something, so they aren't getting any more!

When I got my first car, since I hadn't driven for many years before that moment, whenever I drove, I felt like I was moving at superhuman speeds. Like, walking is slow, cycling is around 15-25km/h on average, yet driving is 50km/h and higher, on most streets where I drove.

Having a human-scaled life, means not moving at such unusual speeds, that sure, are normal in the 21st century, but common, haven't we proven that bigger isn't always better, faster isn't always beneficial?

not surprising, but certainly damning
