i’m not well versed on the causes, i imagine there’s a lot of factors at play. but do i have a friend who lived in DC for a few years, and talking to him about it was whacky.

i have a specific memory wherein he was just walking around outside while on the phone with me and there was gunfire in the background. i said something like “hey should you be outside right now?” and he, VERY CASUALLY replied “nah that’s a few blocks away, i’ll be fine.”

this too, it’s a lot like singing in that way. anyone can train their vocal control, but some folks just will have a much harder time with it for all sorts of reasons they can’t control. both sides of that “only some people can do it/anyone can do it” coin can be damaging for their own reasons.

i think it’s really important to talk about these things in a frank way, thank you for contributing to the discussion ^^

an air fryer is just a smaller (read: less efficient) convection oven, which is itself basically just an oven with a big fan. it circulates the air and gets a crispier and more even bake than a regular oven.

i think the “air fryer” term is just a marketing fad right now? the moving air is a little similar to the way hot oil would cook, but you’re absolutely right about them not really “frying” anything lmao

“innate talent” is a pervasive idea that undercuts years of work and practice. art is HARD and most people just don’t find the doing part to be fulfilling.

everyone wants to make a masterpiece, but no one is born with some kinda artist-gene that gives them the ability to do so as if by magic. outside of savants at least, but that’s a whole other thing lmao

fucken seriously. the phrasing of “you lot” is only just hitting me. that sort of passive bigotry somehow feels worse than outright transphobia.
