I’ve been using Fedora and haven’t encountered any of the issues you mentioned. To me it’s always been rock solid.
Hope things work out ok for you and your family. As others have said, family comes first so take the time you need.
I see you’ve joined the beehaw.org instance which doesn’t federate with lemmygrad.ml which is the main source of tankie views.
Just note that kbin.social currently has Cloudflare DDoS protection enabled which is breaking federation. Until this is removed, the communities are seperate.
What about allowing communities to federate with others?
Eg. The mods at gaming@lemmy.ml and gaming@beehaw.org could decide their communities have the same audience and ideology. They choose to federate with each other so anyone that subscribes to either or both will get posts for both. Mods will then work together to moderate.
Then if 1 set of mods decide to change their policies or go in a different direction they can then de-federate and break the 2 communities apart again.
To me it sounds like this AMA is more to appease the mod community. The relationship with 3rd party app developers is already in the mud and they are fine with that but they can’t lose their mods if they want Reddit to continue to function.
In saying that, he’s doing an awful job and is making things worse.
Feature wise most mobile OS's are pretty mature so it's only natural to see less "improvements" compared to the early days.
Use your favourite Lemmy client for example, the first month of development every release brought a bunch of new features and improvements but these days the releases are all pretty small.
