On November 25, 2018, I was in Spain when I saw the news that Russian forces had seized three Ukrainian naval vessels in the Kerch Strait, near the Sea of Azov. I immediately began arranging logistics and traveled to the region. After obtaining the necessary accreditations from both the Ukrainian and Russian sides, I made my way to the frontlines of the conflict in the Donbas region, where Ukrainian forces were engaged in a tense standoff with Russian-backed separatists.

I embedded with Ukrainian soldiers and spent time living in a frontline bunker, documenting their daily routines and the low-intensity warfare that, even then, signaled the beginning of what would later become the full-scale invasion in 2022.

In this photo, Ukrainian soldiers share a hot meal after returning from patrol duty near the frontline.

The woman in the photo was getting a temple ready for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
I know, it took me a while to post… I was out shooting for like eight hours straight, basically turned into a temple decoration myself and went off the grid. But hey, @lostintravel gave me the push I needed—so here it is. Thanks a lot!

Hey folks, so far I’ve been managing to post one photo a day on #Pixelfed. Let’s see how long I can keep it up, right? No pressure though — just going with the flow and having fun with it.
Took this one in Espírito Santo, in the southwest of Brazil, while I was out photographing for a story for a local outlet about fishing along the coast.

Hey everyone! I’ve been posting daily on Pixelfed for a little over a month, and now I’m bringing those photos here too — starting with this one.

I’ve been a photographer since I was a kid, mostly working in photojournalism and documentary. I believe it’s important that photographers share their work beyond physical borders — and the fediverse feels like a great place to do that.

Pixelfed has been a refreshing alternative to Instagram — calmer, cleaner, and more about the photos themselves.

Curious to hear what you think. Excited to be here and see everyone’s perspective!

Hi, I am fairly new to editing photos and was wondering if anyone has a repository of filters they use in Darktable. I want to be able to import a photo select a filter and then adjust as needed. I haven't been able to find any filters like the VSCO filters that I can download and import to Darktable. If anyone has anything like this or any tips for me that would be great.

I got into photography before their DPreview show, but I got my first DSLR (and still only DSLR) because of watching their show. Anyway, I've heard a little here and there about how Canon stopped sharing their lens space. But look at this video. Free from DPreview's income, here we are in reality. People want to try unique lenses! we want to just try and have weird things to make art with! Some times perfection is not the end goal Canon!

Fujifilm xt-200, toy camera lens. Taken St Patrick’s day weekend when people flock to downtown Chicago to watch the River Dye. It was a beautiful mid 60 degrees day. I was walking to a friend’s condo when a group of people sitting on a bridge caught my eye.

I love the lines they offer, this one in particular because of the different direction they go in.

Tell me I'm not alone 😂

Mods are asleep, post ducks!

But to keep it on topic, this is a female Rosy-billed Pochard in Buenos Aires. Taken with a Canon R50, which I used for a brief moment before returning to Olympus/OM systems
