It's a side scrolling platform-action game, but still uses bullet hell mechanics.

Good news here, in the wake of Mushihimesama's upcoming removal from the Nintendo eShop. Hopefully we'll see these come out in the Western hemisphere as well....

When I think of the Raiden series, I think of traditional, old school vertical shmup action. I never would have guessed they'd make a twin-stick version, but we'll see how it goes.

It's described as a 2D/3D shooter, and the screen shots reminded me of Sin & Punishment. I watched the trailer video though and it's way more like a version of Space Harrier or Rainbow Cotton except that you're stuck to the ground for the most part. Your character appears to be a 2D sprite pasted into a 3D scene, with two-frame animations for running, jumping, and shooting.

We need a new Sin & Punishment :(
