Does anyone know if any of our local eateries will be participating in the "poutine feast" travelling show this summer? I assume it will be something similar to RibFest, and I'd like to promote it on my site, but only if there's local representation. Cheers!

Without speaking to the widely available conversations over the old eatery at the Port Arthur Curling Centre - I decided to check it out for myself today and discovered that there's a new crew spinning things up! Enjoyed a cheeseburger with crinkle-cut fries - just as nature intended someone to eat at a curling club! They were really great - I might be wrong, but it looked like they made their own patties in-house that had a distinct flavour. ALMOST reminded me of Carrie's Corner, but I'm sure true burger afficionados could set me straight on that. Full menu hopefully coming on Monday, but I've put up what I found for now in a new entry - if anyone drops in next week before I can do an update, I'll be happy to credit you! Peace out folks. https://justthemenu.ca/index.php?id=paccrestaurant

Zeeshan Syed claims Avalon Advanced Materials is out to create a “catalytic event” in selecting a site in Thunder Bay to place Ontario’s first proposed lithium processing refinery.

After years of much talk and little action, the Toronto-based junior miner took a great leap forward in June with the announcement that a former forest products mill site in the city’s north end is the spot for a lithium hydroxide conversion plant.

Avalon also introduced a joint venture partnership with Antwerp-headquartered Sibelco, a deal that brings $63-million to the table to bring Separation Rapids, its Kenora-area lithium deposit, into production by late 2025, early 2026.

Refinery production in Thunder Bay looks to start in the fourth quarter of 2027, following a two-year run-up of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.

It offers the promise of a combined 500 jobs in Kenora and Thunder Bay.

Now the company is looking to land a second development partner to help make the Thunder Bay lithium plant a reality. Discussions are ongoing.
