For anyone that has tried the 1.0 release of entities what do you think of it?

I plan on making a small test project with it soon and comparing it to Bevy.

I tried the 0.17 version a while ago, and I remember the API was a huge mess. I'm sure things could only get better from there.

The whole idea of interfaces finally clicked and I'm starting to see how useful they are for introducing possibilities of emergent gameplay. I might be addicted.

Oh yeah, and hi - just found this place. Looks pretty cool so far. (RIP RIF)

I never seem to have enough Unity Guides to follow, what are some of your favorite Youtubers when it comes to Unity Guides and information?

I’ve been down a small rabbit hole recently into WFC as a procedural generation tool and i’m super excited to find a unity asset that i can’t wait to get the opportunity to play with.

This was the youtube video that got me started - have fun!

link to the asset (there’s a more expensive paid version with more features but the cheap one still has a lot going for it): https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/level-design/tessera-procedural-tile-based-generator-155425#description

Open sourcing games you make for it is recommended so people in the community can learn from what you did. Youll also be able to show off your game around the fediverse communities while the jams running and after it ends

More information can be found in the linked jam page as well as the button to hit to sign up

Hope you enjoy! :)

It's almost a year since the GMTK GameJam 2022, the Jam that started off my first project that would eventually be commercial. I have been doing games for over 20 years, i have more than 200 game projects i have done just a prototype but a new idea always popped up.

I remember i was at a party and i was talking to a random guy about game development, he mention this new engine called Unity and since then i was hooked on this engine it was still in its early days.

Fast forward to the GMTK Gamejam 2022 i had 48h to make a game, and i finally made a game that looked like a game you can play for more than an hour. The feedback i got from it gave me a huge dopamine kick, something i wanted more of and so i decided, this game is the game i am gonna start my game studio with.

I slowly continue the game on Itch where the GameJam was hosted and i started to see growth, for each day i got more and more dopamine from watching the analytics grow, one day it exploded, i had over 500% more players than the previous day, what happened? I searched on Google for my game and found a Youtube video from the Youtuber Olexa, he made a video of my game, this brought in tons of new players and i started to get small donations for the game. I have never been so high on dopamine before.

My development speed of the game is hugly based on how much dopamine i currently have, it's the best motivation i have ever had for a game project and i was riding the flow, i started a Steam page to gain wishlist.

I did not have the same momentum on Steam as i had on Itch, the wishlisting was slow, i decided, i already have a functioning game, let's put the price low for now and put it into early access. At the same time i send a few emails to Youtubers giving them free keys so they could also do some giveaways, the game is only $3 anyway and i like these Youtubers content so i saw it as a way to donate to them. I has a early access release sale at the same time a few of these Youtubers plaid the game, i got a lot more money than i thought i would and so i started the process of starting my own gaming studio so the revenue would go there instead.

There is a few months since a Youtuber plaid my game now, and sales are slow, my review ratio is weird, but i am at a point in the game where developing it is so much fun that i can't start a new project, i am past the point of no return, i cant let my players down.

If you wanna try the you can play the most updated version on Steam, the Demo is quite big if you just want to try it out. But if you do decide to buy it, don't forget to leave a review.

Made with love in Unity ♥
