Ofcourse a 5 meter tall concrete wall would be ideal but good luck building that in the middle of the apocalypse. What do you feel like would be the next best option?

My personal choice currently would be to find rolls of 2 meters tall steel wire fence, locate a secluded hilltop somewhere in the woods near water and pull the fence tight between living trees and finish it with barbed wire on the top, mostly in case of other survivors trying to sneak in.

I'd start by securing a small, maybe 5m x 5m perimeter as the starting point. This can be accomplished in a day and I now have a safe place to sleep in. When I obtain more fencing I would start building a second layer around the first one with about 3 meters of space in between and as my camp grows and I get more supplies I would just keep building additional layers. If there are longer stretches of fence between trees I would add additional posts as well as 45 degree supports to prevent a horde from pushing it over.

Wire fence like this comes with atleast 2 additional benefits of being able to see thru it as well as enabling you to kill zombies thru it with a spear.

Hypothetical situation: you are locked at your kitchen whilst there are a bunch of zombies outside of the room invading your home. You can only pick 2 items from your kitchen to use as weapons (1 for each hand) to fight them, what would those be?

I'll start: I would use a big frying pan in my left hand and a kitchen knife in my right. The pan is perfect for blocking attacks and dealing blunt attacks. The reasoning behind the kitchen knife is that... I don't really have anything else "dangerous" at my kitchen. Better than nothing, I guess.

E.g. who would win, a pack of wolves or a town full of zombies and why?

Do you have any "post-apocalyptic" skills, like forging or any other kind of craftsmanship? Or maybe you are physically fit for looting raids and everything related to it? Or maybe you have vast knowledge of how modern tooling works so you could help revive civilisation by creating and maintaining electronic devices?

In short, what role are you going to have in your local group of survivors?

I mean, you aren't trying to survive for the sake of survival itself, right?

What do you do for recreation? To decompress or just to get your mind off the everyday struggle? Board games? Perhaps you've figured out a way to watch movies or listen to music? Is getting drunk or high too much of a risk?

I think that living in a constant fear or being attacked is something many people don't think about. As someone who regularly spends time alone in the woods at night I know how your minds start playing tricks on you and it can get quite intense and scary even though you know it's just animals out there. Just imagine trying to sleep in a abandoned house and then hearing a zombie walk outside. Even if you made sure that location is as safe as it can be that's still going to be terrifying as hell.

I guess I'll go first:

• I stayed home for the first few weeks and waited out the worst chaos
• I was prepaired enough that I could stay at home
• I own a 4x4 truck and had several spare canisters of fuel which enabled me to bug out eventually with all my gear and no need to stop looking for fuel
• I stayed away from malls, supermarkets, gas stations and other hotspots
• Every time I encountered a zombie I ran away instead of fighting it

Personally I've got enough food stored at home to survive the initial phase but if not I'd probably rather try to raid abandoned private homes instead of heading to the closest grocery store. I believe it's wise to avoid hotspots like that especially in the beginning.

I'd feel the safest somewhere off the ground. Second floor of a building with the stairs blocked/destroyed or perhaps in a hammock high up in a tree. I don't think I could fall asleep knowing they could just sneak up on and grab me

If it's a zombie apocalypse, then I would assume the grid is down. Critics would say that the battery and the durability is a problem, but I don't think it's a problem in this time and age. So is the phone really the best source of knowledge during a zombie apocalypse?

I'm a bit torn between a splitting axe and a mace/morning star of some sort.

An axe offers better penetration and is useful for other tasks aswell but perhaps posseses greater risk of getting stuck. A mace is not as versatile but is highly effecive when making direct contact with the skull and is unlikely to get stuck. A mace is also easier to improvise and customize for individual preferences.
