Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

no offense to older people in chat, but why do so many older USonians try to overuse appliances or reusable containers with worn out plastic in contact with food?

@chat@hexbear.net

is this a worldwide issue? my hypothesis was they got introduced to them as wonder materials of the future. even plastic sponges get reused when they clearly have molecule-deep filth in every crevasse

ikka, ikka, let me stop you right there. You showed up in this thread to join a conversation you had no part of to dictate the personal rules of online discourse you choose to uphold. Now that you've been unsuccessful, you're melting down, accussing me of being an "antisocial, egoistic, autistic, status-obsessed freak".
Do you think at this point anyone would lend credence to the idea you were trying to be helpful by using random mental disorders you've heard of from movies and TV shows as insults?

Lastly, this is just factually untrue haha.

Yet another pedantic argument missing the point of what I said. Go ask your therapist, (I'm sure you have one since you are at a low level of knowledge, anxious, hostile, and think everyone needs a psychological pathology done on them, evenover the letters they exchange, because you're probably excited about what it does for you. I'm happy for you "bro".) They will probably say something so negative you'll correct them in the same way like "but it is possible??" - I've had to give this talk to some other people before. If you're in the US, I'm sorry, but you're not going to get one "bro".

Do you know what we say about historians who do this kind of analysis to historical figures based on letters? 😁 Well we don't even call them historians.

Wake me up once you're ready to admit that you are unhinged. You took the mental disorder comments really personally. As someone with ADHD myself I would never consider having a mental disorder to be an insult. Only trying to help 😊

@ikka@lemmy.sdf.org If you want to be taken seriously, go get a PhD in psychology and try to convince people everyone who takes part in an email chain with more than 4 replies is mentally ill. Alternatively, pursue becoming a site moderator so you don't have to live with not being taken seriously, you can ban people and imagine they are more unhappy than you then.
No you weren't trying to help, I easily deconstructed the way you were using mental illness as an insult.

@ikka@lemmy.sdf.org Duplicating your comment doesn't count as getting the last word. Take a deep breath, count to ten, and get a life. You're welcome for the helpful advice.~
