Yes, and this topic definitely deserves attention, but the sidebar of this community asks for posts not to be on the topic of the US.

For posts related to the United States, please consider !news or !politics

Since the United States is often the most discussed country on internet spaces, we would like to have a space where other countries headlines may be posted.

That doesn't say not to post about US topics, granted that is probably the intent. They should update the sidebar to be clear as it stands "please consider these alternatives" does not mean "do not post it here".

You make a fair point. I just usually see "please consider" used as a professional euphemism for "do this", but this isn't a professional context.
