Why don't 3rd launchers not support native gestures yet? Why does Google refuse to fix that?

[-] limerod@reddthat.com 5 points 4 months ago

Because google like all things google does not bother. I mean why would they if things are going just as well. Not like you and I are going to switch to a rival OS without google services.

And now with the US antitrust ruling against Google, they are sure to ignore more of these small things.

I have a similar question, how is that 3rd party launchers users do not know or not care about this?

I genuinely envy them lol.

I'm not sure why other Android OEMs are unable to fix this issue.

So far the only way that this has been fixed is with a custom ROM (using their own custom launcher which is average at best) or using Lawnchair with QuickSwitch (requires root, and it is like the best shot you have to have smooth animations with a more customized launcher).

I'm one such user. I notice the less smooth animations and the lack of App opening animations with them daily.

The reason I still use Smart Launcher is because of its amazing auto app categories, and smart search which is unrivaled by the system launcher.

Not to mention the aesthetics and blurred widgets.

I have been using 3rd party launchers for 5 years now. I can't stand the jerky animations. I always go back to using navigation buttons.

I always go back to using navigation buttons.

Yeah, this is a valid solution... Although as I come to Android from iOS I never could get used to that... And it seems I'll never be able to.

Native gestures as in the gesture navigation system on Android?

[-] Justly0250@lemdro.id 1 points 4 months ago

yes, they are buggy when using 3rd party launchers.
