You know the phrase I've heard more in the #Fediverse than ANYWHERE else?

"just my 2 cents"

I think this sums up the culture here pretty well. People just LOVE to tell you how you've got it wrong. This ESPECIALLY applies to posts that aren't even TRYING to be opinionated. There is just this vocal contingent (sometimes german? always male) that is hell bent on making sure there isn't "Someone wrong on the internet"

See if you can help yourself and not critique ;-) I certainly don't want it

@scottjenson@social.coop Ye gods. If I had to pick one post that exemplifies the mindset of correction-Karens, it'd be that one. The condescension, the narcissistic inability to consider that they're the ones who are wrong—just disgusting.

I despise that behavior, and this is why. It's rarely about sharing insights or trying to improve anything—never was. It's about superiority: popping up out of nowhere to shame and demean.

I've always considered that a form of bullying, and I block those folks on sight.

@csilverman@mastodon.social I just checked out his bio and he has zero followers and following zero account. Most likely a state TROLL just trying to rile people up. Shame on me for falling for it. (but their reply is a classic)

If this is how you respond to people helping, there's a very easy way to make sure that I never spend any more time assisting you. Who knows how much time I'd have wasted in the future if I don't block you today?

Have fun with your ignorance tho, you seem pretty attached to it.
