From Wikipedia:
Forever Knight is a Canadian television series about Nick Knight, an 800-year-old vampire working as a police detective in modern-day Toronto, Ontario. Wracked with guilt for centuries of killing others, he seeks redemption by working as a homicide detective on the night shift while struggling to find a way to become human again. The series premiered on May 5, 1992, and concluded with the third-season finale on May 17, 1996.
This show has been on my radar for some time now, but it just kind of gathered dust on my watch list until now.
I cannot recommend it enough.
The writing and character development have both really surprised me, given the vampire subject matter and being an early 90s production. The content and tone tick the boxes of a number of genres: horror, crime drama, soap opera. It all amalgamates into a really dark, gritty, absorbing watch.
If I were to describe the feel of the show, I would say take Tales from the Crypt, sprinkle in a little bit of 90s cop drama, then bake it for 30 minutes with Spawn the animated series.
I'm currently finishing up S01, and can't wait for 02 and 03.
I remember catching episodes of this here and there when I was kid, always really liked it. Would be great to go back and binge it now as an adult. Thanks for reminding me of this!
