I'm a returning player (thanks to the upcoming cross-save) and it's been so long since I played Warframe. I have next to no idea what's going on in the story or how half of the systems work.

I would really like to start fresh, but I have quite a bit invested from my past play and don't want to lose all of that. As I understand there's no way to do a "soft restart" where I can reset my progress but retain all of my items, but I'm curious if cross-save might offer a way around this.

I have played on PlayStation and PC both in the past, but not Xbox. I'm wondering if I could start playing fresh on Xbox, and then once cross-save is available choose it as my primary account which would keep my progress at only to what I've completed on the Xbox but merge all of my items from the other two platforms.

If I'm following the fine print it seems like this would work despite my Xbox account being fresh since both my PC and PlayStation accounts were created well before the cutoff of November 24th based on the below from the official site:

Any account created before 2 p.m. ET on November 24, 2023 is eligible for a One-Time Account Merge. You may also merge accounts created after the cutoff date, so long as the merge is performed with at least one other Warframe profile created before this date.

Can anyone see any pitfalls here? The obvious is the lost of progress, but that's exactly what I want to happen so it seems like a good solution. Also the platform jump to Xbox is fine since it's now my preferred console and I'll be mostly split between playing on Xbox and PC. My plan is to start fresh on Xbox this weekend and just select it as the primary when linking is available.

Appreciate any input, thanks!

I remember catching episodes of this here and there when I was kid, always really liked it. Would be great to go back and binge it now as an adult. Thanks for reminding me of this!

Thanks for the info! I've seen the lack of multiplayer formats as a recurring negative for Arena, but thankfully it's just my wife and I with no real interest (yet) in going beyond that.

I think we'll keep an eye on MTGO, though, because eventually we'll probably want to try something like Commander out. Since we're social distancing enthusiasts it's unlikely we'll look for a local group to play with (nobody in our circle of friends plays MTG) so having a digital option for that will be awesome.

Great info, appreciate the thoughtful response!

Right now we're using digital to help teach us the game and we're mostly using Arena since we bought some starter kits which gave us the same decks in Arena and paper. It's been really helpful having both forms of the same decks as we're able to try things out that we're unsure about. Long term I think digital will be more of a "pick up and play" type thing so we're leaning Arena.

I can definitely see why companies would be interested in this. Near total control of content and the resources behind them? Don't have to worry about being tied to bad publicity of a specific platform?

Of course this is wide open for them to abuse this by restricting content to only what they want, but the nice thing about the fediverse is that it would likely just be one of many resources for content on that topic.

I don't see many people wanting to create their accounts with such an instance, but definitely could be nice as an "official" source of news. Could one day likely replace official forums on company sites as it essentially fills the same use case but is federated so its content reaches larger audiences.

I'll definitely be waiting for the reviews to come in and settle, but assuming it's a solid game I'll probably give it a shot being a big fan of Fallout and Elder Scrolls. I've got such a backlog, though, it likely won't be any time soon.

Just came across Librewolf also, guessing you've been pretty pleased with it then? Any standout features of Librewolf that made you go/stick with it?

My wife and I just recently got into MTG and decided we want our focus to be paper, but we also like the idea of digital as we learn since it forces us to play by the rules and we can use it to test out things we're unsure about. We also like the idea of digital for times when we can't be bothered to break out decks and such. So while we'll primarily focus on paper we will invest some into digital.

We're still deciding on which digital platform to really invest our resources into, though. I like MTGO for its "close to paper as possible" philosophy, but I get the impression Arena is golden child of Wizards and likely to have more staying power long term. The ability to play Arena pretty much anywhere, including mobile, is a big benefit as well.

So for the more seasoned players out there that may have focused on one or the other, or even both, what's your experience been? Why did you lean into one versus the other?

Good info, thanks! I'll have to check out Arkenfox, too.

Anybody out there using Mullvad's browser? If so what's your impression so far?

I've only just discovered it and started playing with it a bit, but was curious on this group's opinions/experience with it.
