Do you live a low car / no car life? At the point where bags become something you use for hours everyday instead of minutes at a time from car to location and back you suddenly realize that price tag is 2 - 3 times of filling up your gastank for, say, 2 hours of use for the next 10 years

It makes sense if you're biking, yeah. I drive once a month but for walking and transit I usually just make use of a "JanSport" bag from the 80s, who knows how it hasn't disintegrated by now. If I need to bring stuff back a few folded tote bags in there has worked.

I mean your car is basically an inventory holder among other things so it makes little sense to spend big bucks on a backpack unless you're into hiking. It's just once the car is out of the picture the use cases change a lot.
