On the plus side, this person will never be able to make money selling their house because of this terrible decision.
On the minus side, it's doubtful their neighbors will be able to either. Gas and oil seeps far and wide fast.
Unfortunately the money is unlikely to go anywhere but to banks/brokers and government, neither of which seem inclined to do anything about current or historical injustice
