Except, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think Hamas has been actively anti-Communist unlike the KMT right?

Not at all, they are allied with various different groups in the struggle for liberation. A lot of the "left" just loves having takes for takes sake or are genuinely racist and dont think these groups have complex thought or strategy.
