The payment processors Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express are all american. I would prefer supporting the economies of friendly european countries instead.

European banks in my experience are hopeless. Even their attempts for a Paypal alternative every few years lead nowhere.

I mean, the Netherlands has had iDeal for a long while, which works great. But it being limited to Dutch banks obviously means its use isn't widespread beyond the Netherlands.

That's the thing. Austrian banks have eps Überweisung for online purchases, and quick bank transfer things for sending money to your friends. But it's only Austrian banks, there is no wider collaboration outside of the country.
