Frieren is probably the best use of music in the anime i have seen. The goddam genius way it hypes the situation is amazing, especialy when you contrast this with a very calm tone this anime usualy has. Also the fact that actual amount of important fights is fairly limited makes it that much better. The fact that pretty much every character that shows up for more than a few minutes is designed like a main character in its own story is something i wish more anime/manga/lightnovels would do. Its frankly speaking kinda amazing that you could reasonably make a completley new anime out of nearly every character that was in more than episode and it probably wouldnt even feel like side story ( like most others do ). Frankly speaking its just an artistic marvel.

Hey, Frieren has been sitting on my to-watch list for awhile, but despite the name of that list, whenever I pick something off of it I actually tend to look for a manga first.

How would you say the anime and manga compare?

I have been reading the Frieren manga since way before the anime was announced, and I think that both the anime and manga are excellent. The anime adaptation really helps elevate the manga source in several ways (OST, voice talent, gorgeous background art, extended and improved action sequences).

For a different perspective, I watched Frieren together with my wife (who had not read the manga). She enjoyed it so much that afterwards, she read the manga from the beginning and got caught up. When I asked her, she said that she felt that watching the anime and then continuing the manga from where the anime ended would have been fine.
