Welcome to all who stop by. Like it says, this is a safe, supportive community for folks who are trying to quit or control their drinking, for any reason. We all have our own reasons for deciding to put down the bottle, and we're all on this trip together, so why not help each other out? Please feel free to share your experiences, to help other posters, and to ask for help yourself.

Why the split from .world? People are free to be on whatever instance they choose, of course.

This community (as a whole under the "stop drinking" banner) is not huge and probably wouldn't benefit from multiple communities at this time.

IMHO, a unified group is probably much easier for Lemmy newbies.

Why the split from .world?

The same reason that there's a Lemmy.ca in the first place, i.e. it's a community managed by Canadians, geared to Canadians. This is a resource for Canadians struggling with alcohol/quitting, although of course just like Lemmy.ca, everyone is welcome, from anywhere. Having this community here means that people who choose to spend their time on Lemmy in Lemmy.ca have a place to go to right here. Cheers!
