Pretty much everyone you are talking to voted Democrat. You know who didn't? People whose families were murdered by US munitions.

You know who also didn't? The mythical anti-trump Republican voters who the Biden/Kamala campaign exclusively tried to win over.

Maybe instead of getting mad at people calling out the Democrats losing strategy you should get mad at Republicans who are destroying everything and the feckless Democrats who learned nothing from this last election.

Statistically at least some of us here didn't, and that's extra true for Lemmy in general. Millions of people who voted for Biden in 2020 didn't show up in 2024. Trump's numbers hardly changed at all, but the former DNC voters stayed home in absolutely massive numbers.

I'm sure some of them regret it, but depicting the only party that gives any fucks about them being hung by their necks is probably not the way to go about fixing this.

There will be no 'fixing this'.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Lol, you sound like you're on the MAGA's side.

Yeah, my reply was too brief & misunderstandable, so let me 'splain.

We need to stop deluding ourselves into thinking there's a political solution to what Trump, Musk, and the Republicans are doing. There's not.

Most Americans have been thoroughly misinformed and won't care about the destruction of democracy until the repercussions smack them personally in the face, but by then the coup will be completed. Dems in Congress will not spontaneously evolve spines. I'm out there picketing, but only for my conscience and mental health, not because I imagine the fascists will hear us and yield. They won't.

Politics as usual is finished in America. We will be left with whatever rights Trump & Musk decide we should have, which won't be much and won't be up for 'debate'. The current dismantling of America will lead to violence, which I neither want nor call for, and which I’m too old, weak, and generally chickenshit to participate in. The violence is going to happen, though, with the police, the military, and the un-regulated militia against we the people who hope for freedom, and we will lose. After that, reconstructing democracy in America will take generations of struggle and bloodshed.

It's moot and silly to talk of 'fixing this' via elections or reforming the Democratic Party. That ship has sailed and sunk. America, 1776-2025, RIP.

Lol I understood you the first time. You want to tear down the government. Just like MAGA.

[–] DougHolland@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Upvoted for feckless. I love that word in general, and it's perfect attached to Democrats.

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It’s a word with no proper opposite.

Have you ever heard anyone use the word “feckfull”?

Well, you just did. This being a conversation in English, feckfull is now cromulent.

[–] DougHolland@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

To my semi-surprise, 'feck' is a word.
