What actually raises the price of milk is the farmer uses his profits to buy up other local dairy farms consolidating their position in the market. They then sign exclusivity deals with both grocers and further milk processors (who are also consolidating) to prevent competing in the market, driving their competitors to either sell for cheap or go out of business. https://theconversation.com/americas-dairy-farms-are-disappearing-down-95-since-the-1970s-milk-price-rules-are-one-reason-why-237439#:~:text=Across%20the%20country%2C%20the%20dairy,per%20farm%20%E2%80%93%20has%20been%20rising.

Because "farm Inc" has a massive horde of wealth, they can stamp out competition by either buying them out, cutting them out, or driving them out of business with prices a small farmer can't handle. After that, they get to set and raise prices at will with the now smaller pool of big name "farm Inc".

This literally happens every time a market is poorly regulated and businesses allowed to grow too big. It's the natural end state of capitalism.

The real problem with the filibuster, in my opinion, is it shields senators from taking a public position. The most extreme senator from Idaho can filibuster the "feed the children" act which prevents a senator from Georgia from having to vote no.

You know what would really help small businesses, like a lot? Public health insurance (covering things like vision and dental). A huge part of the cost of doing business is benefits for employees. Well, with public health insurance that's a huge budget item that suddenly small businesses don't have to pay.

Want to make it better? Expand social security to be something you could live off of. Boom, now you as a small business owner don't need benefits like 401ks. Your employees will be well taken care of by a government ran pension.

Want to go a step further? Expand public housing, public transport, and food security programs. Now all the sudden a business doesn't need to pay top dollar because the cost of living for everyone has been significantly decreased. You can easily find low wage workers and hire crews of them because the added income for everyone is more of a bonus rather than a necessity.

What else could you do? Reduce the full time work week from 40 hours to 30 hours. For a small business, it means you can actually focus on having your employees doing useful work rather than having them hang around an extra 10 hours a week doing nothing. For the employees, now they have spare time on their hands which means more opportunities to interact with the community and small businesses.

By taking care of the basic needs of the population you give the population a lot of spare capital and time. All of which can stimulate the economy to new heights.

Don't you love how a cop who drunkenly threatened his girlfriend with his pistol and has multiple discipline actions on record for excessive violence is still allowed to be a cop?

Fuck everything about these tunnels.

  • He proposed them to stop the city from implementing a subway system (fuck that shit).
  • He first proposed them as being effectively a subway/hyperloop but then stopped when that cost too much money
  • He then turned them into just underground private roadways accessible only to teslas.

Fuck that shit. The problem the city was trying to solve wasn't "We need more highspeed roads" it's "We need to be able move more people". And musk torpedoed that with a pointless underground tunnel.

Subways would have been way cheaper to operate, served more locations, and would not have been this stupid exclusive system for tesla owners to show off an LED light display.

Shows how big a lie the election is stolen narrative is.

Jordan, if he were in Congress where he knows he can't be sued for defamation, would have ranted for 20 minutes about Dominion voting machines. But put him in a place where he knows he'd get a defamation lawsuit and all the sudden that congressional fire goes ice cold.

He's a supreme weasel and he covered up rape for years.

Here's what's changed

  • The market has collapsed into a few companies. That means that monopolistic forces are in nearly full force
  • Labor unions have been severely weekend. In the 60s almost out of fear companies were practicing "corporate charity" to try and keep employees from unionizing. They've lost that fear.
  • Regulations around corporate stock price manipulation have been all but eliminated. Buybacks use to be illegal because they allow a company to artificially inflate their stock completely unrelated to the actual performance of the company.
  • Social safety nets have been gutted or underfunded.
  • Public education has been destroyed. We used to have a fairly robust public university system that's been uber privatized with funding reduced to almost nothing.
  • Hospital systems have consolidated as has insurance agencies which not only drives up the price of medical care, it drives down the wages of doctors and nurses while keeping them as minimally staffed as possible. This translates into terrible care that fucks you over when you need any medical work done.

Originalism is nothing more than a mechanism for the Supreme Court to undo past precedent they don't like. Welcome to the new lochner era.

Hopefully we end this one like we ended the last, with a wave of socialism and a tough president willing to pack the court.

Are people on the left saying this?

The 2 things I've really not liked about biden is he

  1. Continued trump era boarder policies significantly harming refugees.

  2. Has doggedly supported israel in their current genocide campaign.

Other wise his admin has ranged from pretty good to business as usual. 1000% better than trump, but also with some glaring problems.

but I'm not exactly sure what he was expecting. Storing files is an ongoing expense

He was expecting a company that promised unlimited data to not reneg on their advertised product. Or to simply delete data they promised to store because it's inconvenient for them.

Yeah, it costs money to store things, something Google's sales, marketing, and legal teams should have thought about before offering an "unlimited" product.

Pretty crazy. Mexico has traditionally been VERY catholic. The fact that it has become more progressive than the US on women's rights really speaks volumes about how terrible the US has become.

I suspect a LOT of abortions happening down in the west texas town of el paso.
