Hi there. Since I removed my Reddit account, I'm really happy to find a new home here. Hopefully beginner questions are allowed here.

Currently I'm trying to reliable get SE to work on Manjaro Linux. But this seems to be not an easy task. Currently it's the only game, I have tried, which tends to crash on Linux.

Necro post, I know, but perhaps this will help someone in the future.

I currently have SE working on NixOS using Proton 9.0-4. It seems stable so long as I keep it to 720p but that seems to be more to due with my RTX 3070 running out of RAM. SE was crashing with Proton Hotfix and Experimental as of 2025-03. All I had to do to get it working in Linux was enable the compatibility tool in the properties panel, on the game page, in Steam.

Space Engineers Game page --> Gear Icon --> Properties --> Compatibility --> Check the box to force the use of a particular compatibility tool and select which version of Proton you want to use.
