great, now I'm subscribed to 4 communities called "fediverse" :D (the one you linked to and the ones on lemmy.ml, lemmy.world and lemmy.zip)
I was hoping to get that one to become the LW alternative, but after the mod asked me to become a mod and I declined, but suggested to create a meta post to call for more mods, they told me they prefer to not have meta posts on that community.
Well, fine, you make the rules, I guess I'll post somewhere else.
Note that this was also why !globalnews@lemmy.zip and !world@quokk.au never consolidated, the mods of both communities just wanted to keep theirs
@PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat , IIRC at some point you volunteered to join the mod team of !globalnews@lemmy.zip , did that ever went anywhere?
Did I? I don't even remember this... if I did volunteer I don't think it ever went anywhere no.

Brought receipts.
I hope you dragged them into one of your beloved drama communities for that. The nerve of some people to have a disagreement with you.
You believe that communities shouldn't have meta posts calling for more mods when there's only one and that person is willing to offer someone else a mod position?
You made it seem like they were asking people in private, i don't really see anything wrong with that. Your new fediverse community also only has one mod btw.
Then feel free to join them on their community.
Indeed, it's not even 12 hours old. I just asked the mod to create a meta post to add more mods, it should be there in a few hours
Sweet. Sounds like snoopy is being a bit more obedient towards you then 😆
Really ? Well on jlai.lu we try to have at least 2 mods per community. That's not aways the case but we regulary do meta post to recruit moderators and encourage collaborative work. :)
For fediverse community, i will probably look around what we already do and try something different :)
Sorry i was throwing you under the bus there 😆 I had no idea that it was such a fauxpas to not do a meta post but ask people you trust in private if they'd be down to mod. I don't get why that is, but that may be just me.
Both are good. It depends of lot things. You may want to chose privatly or open a meta post.
I like doing meta post because it shows to users that we are taking it seriously and tell them how we want to manage it. What we want to achieve. Privatly is also great, let's say you will open a sensible community on feminism, you don't want to mess it up and need someone you can trust.
My main role won't be moderator but animator that's what i enjoy the most. 😊
And if i didn't have alts/accounts on lemmy, mbin piefed, iceshrimp, mastodon, peertube, i wouldn't accept it. In a way, i'm similar to Blaze and Camus. :)
For the additional context, my last experience with a mod refusing to allow meta posts lead straight into power tripping: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/29606682?scrollToComments=true
Everyone here is collaborating. Someone else asked me to pin a post on !fedibridge@lemmy.dbzer0.com , I did: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/40519876/17550521
I'm not sure why you seem to think I'm like an evil puppet master plotting and manipulating everyone. This community's objective is to organize and collaborate to make communities grow. Having communities too centralized on one instance to the point that another instance has a 3 days delay goes against that. Having completely identical communities active at the same time on the same topic splinters conversation.
There's nothing more than that.
Then why are you now creating another community on the same topic? Because the other mod did not want to do a metapost but ask people in private if they'd be willing to mod?
And you just pointed you the main difference between !fediverse@lemmy.zip and !fediverse@piefed.social
