Thanks for the advice! That's a bummer your nepenthes isn't doing well, but from your description, it sounds like its a tough plant to kill
That's interesting about the upper and lower pitchers, I didn't know they would have different leaves. Its getting pretty tall already, at least 3-4inches since I got it. Im getting it a hanging basket for it, so hopefully the upper leaves will use the cords to stabilize. I'm excited about learning this plant's specific needs, and for sure I'll keep Hexbear updated.
Good luck to you and your nepenthes!
From what I know, the leafs themselves will look the same between upper and lower, but it's the pitchers that change (and I think the tendrils slightly)
But the pitchers are part of the leaf so you are also right anyway ;) Also, I may just be wrong on that. The leafs may change too slightly?
I just wanted to point out that you may not know you have an upper pitcher until the pitcher itself forms. The changes are hard to describe with words, so you can find some pitchers. But the shape, color, and where the tendril connects to the pitcher differ between upper and lower pitchers.
I hope you get to see them, it'd be so exciting! My lowly plant has only given me lower pitchers.
As long as you give it enough light, you can figure the rest out with trial and error!
