“His selection isn’t just a conflict of interest — it’s an aggressive step toward handing America’s mail system over to corporate interests,” Brian Renfroe, the president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, said in a statement. “Private shippers have been waiting to get USPS out of parcel delivery for years.”

I guess I start making donations to the post office by becoming a stamp hoarder?

Don't worry, the USPS will still be tasked with the unprofitable, thankless job of delivering letters and flats, the raiders will carve out the quite profitable small package business, "raise the market floor" on the pricing and then lots of little mom and pop garage businesses are gonna get fucked.

I'm tuned into what they are doing because my wife has one of those garage businesses. 10 years ago her standard package cost $3.15 most places in the US, now it's $5.40 and honestly, I'm not mad. When these chucklefucks "raise the market floor" it's going to be on par with UPS and FedEX, which costs $15+

I repeat the phrase "raise the market floor" because that's a quote from the leaked Wells Fargo proposal to privatize the USPS. They literally think we pay too little to ship small packages. It's a small piece of shit floating by on this swollen river of sewage, but it's one that's going to affect me drastically so I'm paying attention to it.

They already started fucking up package delivery with longer times. Priority mail is up to 4 days now. They closed a bunch of local sorting facilities and send everything to larger regional facilities. My guess is that they will privatize those if they aren't already. Say goodbye to eBay. I already started boycotting FedEx years ago for sucking.
