Official Taiwanese Executive Yuan website removed all usage of the term "Han Chinese". Currently, 2.6% of the registered population is listed as Indigenous, 1.2% are immigrants, and 96.2% as "Other". (www.scmp.com)

Because they are settlers who have pushed indigenous peoples into the mountains and off the coast, and up until very recently, didn't recognize all native Taiwanese peoples as distinct ethnic groups.
