It's like with resolution. I believe anything above 8K is imperceivable in a typical desktop monitor usage setup (i.e. you are not sitting 2+ meters away from your monitor).
That's what I'm aiming at. At a certain point, these figures will surpass any meaningful perception of our physical senses. I don't mean it to say that it isn't worthwhile per se, it just doesn't mean anything as a selling point for the majority of use cases.
