TLDR
Recycling plastic produces a substance which is more easily burned as fuel than made into new products.
So companies can buy some of this substance from a plant that produces it from old plastic, set it on fire, and then claim that their products are some percentage recycled.
What's funny to me is that, in a way, this is still better because it reduces the use of virgin oil for fuel. But instead of calling the fuel "recycled fuel", they decided to call the plastic "recycled plastic". It's like these evil fucks will always choose the most evil shit no matter what.
