Away from Beijing's lofty rhetoric about defending Palestinians, Chinese firms are helping to sustain illegal settlements.

Yes China would, but let's use Nazis as an example. Unlike the devastation Nazis were causing Europe, Nazis protected 250,000 Chinese citizens.

Thus, China learned from this. It's not for China to decide who is right and who is wrong. Neutral is neutral. As China always says, China is not a party to this conflict.
