I know we pay federal taxes independently of state taxes. The point is if CA, that includes everyone in CA, stopped paying federal taxes and state taxes increased relatively so that everything that would normally go to the federal government would instead go to the state government, our books would be in the green or very near to it. Some states tend to receive more then they give, CA tends to give more then receive, thats fine, normally, the whole democratic socialism Lincoln fought for, but if the federal government, namely trump, wants to use federal funds to bully CA, CA should throw its monetary weight around.
