For me, rats are filthy, gross, and creepy. But that is not why I fight them. I normally would not care about their presence as long as they stay on their side of the walls. But I fight them for two reasons:
Rats keep their teeth trimmed by grinding them together. They don't need to chew things to keep them short; that's just a myth. But I get what you're saying. Be sure to wear a mask when you take your ceiling down! 😬
