From Grunge to Gangsta Rap and everything in between! Post a song and let's talk about it!
Rules
- All aspects of the LW TOS apply.
- Be constructive and don't gatekeep. Music is highly subjective, and people have different tastes.
- If the source is YouTube, use the actual YouTube URL rather than a specific Invidious/Piped link. This prevents dead links as those go on/offline or break due to Google changes while also letting people's browser plugins, Lemmy clients, etc automatically re-write YT links to their preferred instances. Feel free to put alternate links in the post body, though.
- Put the link to the song in the URL field and not the post body.
- Submissions must be from the 90s (1990 - 1999) based on either recorded or release date. e.g. if it was recorded in 1999 but released in 2000, we're not going to split hairs over that; post away. Covers made in the 90s of older music is absolutely allowed and encouraged.
Posting Guidelines / Suggestions
- The preferred title format is
Artist - Song Name [YEAR]
- If a song has a particular meaning or evokes a pleasant memory for you, feel free to share your story with it.
If you have other suggestions that would help grow the community and/or foster discussion, please feel free to share.

Thank you for this =)!
I used to spend a considerable amount of time at the library when I was younger. They had one of their cds to borrow there, the one with the dog (poodle?) on it. It has a song on it, Last Girl on Earth. It's probably one of my favorite songs to sing, because it has goofy lyrics and a simple range (so it's an easy sing). Either way, I sing that song around my gal and it always makes he sideways frown, but I can't help it cause it's the song I love =P! These guys jam down though, this is really a little treat =)
Freaked out and small, their 3rd album. It was funded by some internet music company in the napster music boom era. IIRC the band had effectively broken up at that point but came back for this internet money. The company went bust and only got a traditional release later.
I wonder if that's the reason why it found its way into our library. We didn't have a large budget, and mostly everything was quite old. They started carrying cds, but because I lived in a predominantly black area they were almost never checked out because most black folk at the time wouldn't be caught dead listening to rock in any capacity at the time. (*They couldn't have explicit music in the library) I mean honestly, I knew one guy and that was about it. In fact I got my first rock cd ever because someone "hid their shame" of buying a Weezer album and leaving it in an unlocked gym locker because it was something seen as sort of shameful back then. Even when I was a young adult it wasn't really done, and I dated a black alt-punk and I remember her lamenting how white the scene was. Ten years after that though, I saw black kids listening to metal and I figured "we've arrived" =P! Dividing music by ethnicity is dumb af.
I can't remember if I read they split here or on the video but I was astonished their run was so small. Still I think they're very talented, make great music and love that song to death. I think I should give their entire discography a respectful listen =)! Thanks for the share!
