... I personally like the idea of ppl exploring new ideas regardless if they’re helping our immediate problems.

i always wondered if people like william gilbert or otto guericke ever had to endure derision from people due to their experimentation w electricity well before its impact could be known.

some part of me wants to hear overconfident and dogmatic responses like: "electricity?!!! who tf would ever need such a useless thing?!"
